Volunteer onsite in Greece
In preparation
Volunteer actions on the ground, starting in Zografou and Athens, are in preparation. No actions are listed yet.
We publish only actions we have checked with the organisation that runs them. Every action will name the organisation, say what volunteers will do, and give the place, the dates and an apply-by date.

Are you a non-profit organisation or community institution organising an action or project, online or in Greece? Tell us about it. We check your organisation and the call with you. If you agree, our team creates your organisation’s profile page and may publish the call on Volunteering opportunities. There is no account to create.
Every action we publish must be free for volunteers, with no fee to apply or to take part.
Why volunteer
Every useful hour counts
2026 is the UN International Year of Volunteers. It closes on International Volunteer Day, 5 December. It is a good moment to give some of your time.
Work that is really needed
Every task in the Volunteer Academy is something EVEC needs done. None of it is made up to keep you busy.
Learn as you help
You learn how Erasmus+ youth projects work while you help, and you get feedback on your work. Being asked to revise is normal.
It fits around your life
Volunteer from anywhere, as much or as little as suits you. Most tasks fit into one evening. There is no minimum and no commitment.
Something to show for it
You get a certificate of participation and a record of the hours you have given. Earning drachmas, the Academy’s own points, makes you an active volunteer. Active volunteers get priority, not a guaranteed place, when EVEC chooses participants for its programmes. Each programme’s own rules on who can take part still apply.
How it works
How you start volunteering online
The Volunteer Academy is EVEC’s free online volunteering programme, for anyone aged 15 or over, wherever they live. Your account, lessons and tasks are on evec.org.gr, EVEC’s main website. On an Android phone you can also use the free app.
- Sign up. If you are 18 or over, create your account on our Volunteer Academy page. It takes about two minutes, with no interview and no call. If you are 15 to 17, a parent or guardian registers you first.
- Learn. Read short lessons on how Erasmus+ youth projects work, at your own pace.
- Take on a real task. Translation, research, checking, writing or video, one task at a time and from home. Example tasks take from 20 minutes to 2 hours.
- Get feedback. A named reviewer at EVEC reads your work and explains any changes. Approved work earns drachmas, the Academy’s own points. They are not money.
- Move up. Your level goes up on its own as you finish tasks: Seed, then Sprout after 5 finished tasks, then Grower after 10. You can spend drachmas on EVEC certificates.
On your phone
Get the EVEC Volunteer Academy app
The EVEC Volunteer Academy app is on Google Play for Android phones. It is free, and it is in English and Greek.
- Read the short lessons as cards on your phone.
- Take on small, real tasks. A person on our team reads what you send.
- Write to our team in the Messages tab. There is no chat between volunteers.
- Choose which notifications you get: a new task, a reply to your work, a message from our team.

Volunteer Voices
Articles written by Academy volunteers
Volunteer Voices is where we publish articles written by volunteers in the EVEC Volunteer Academy. Each article shows its author’s own views, not the official views of EVEC Athens. Whose views are these?

FAQ
Questions people ask first
What is volunteer.org.gr?
volunteer.org.gr is a project of EVEC Athens, a non-profit association in Zografou, Athens. Our aim is to bring together volunteers, online from anywhere and onsite in Greece, with the organisations that need them.
Today you can volunteer online in the EVEC Volunteer Academy. Volunteer actions in Greece are in preparation. Read more about EVEC.
Is it free?
Yes. The EVEC Volunteer Academy costs nothing. It is volunteering, so it is also unpaid.
Every action listed on Volunteering opportunities must also be free for volunteers. Nobody may ask you to pay a fee to apply or to take part. If someone does, please tell us at erasmus@evec.org.gr.
Who can volunteer? Is there an age limit?
Anyone aged 15 or over, wherever they live.
If you are 18 or over, you can join the Volunteer Academy yourself. If you are 15 to 17, a parent or guardian registers you first, on the Academy’s page for parents on evec.org.gr. If you are under 15, you can join from your 15th birthday.
How does the Academy keep volunteers under 18 safe?
There is no chat between volunteers, at any age. Only adults on the EVEC team review a young person’s work, and all Academy staff can read the Messages thread. See how the Academy keeps volunteers safe.
Do I need to speak Greek?
Not always. The Academy runs in Greek and English. Task briefs are written in English as well as Greek, and each task says which language it needs.
If you are 18 or over and do not speak Greek, much of the work needs no Greek at all, for example design, video, subtitling, research and social content.
Can I volunteer in person in Greece now?
Not yet. Onsite volunteer actions in Greece, starting in Zografou and Athens, are in preparation, and no actions are listed at the moment. We publish an action only after checking it with the organisation that runs it. Checked actions will appear on Volunteering opportunities.
To hear when the first ones open, fill in our Get notified form and tick “Email me when checked volunteer actions open in Greece”. Onsite actions will be open to volunteers aged 15 and over. If you are under 18, you need a parent’s or guardian’s permission before you send the form.
We are an organisation. How can we find volunteers?
If you are a non-profit organisation or community institution organising an action or project, online or in Greece, tell us about it on our page for organisations. We decide which actions we list.
Before a call goes live, we check your legal registration, a named contact person, safeguarding for any role involving minors or vulnerable people, and an apply-by date. Every action must be free for volunteers, with no fee to apply or to take part.
After the checks, and once you have agreed to our terms for partner organisations and to what we publish, our team creates your organisation’s profile page on volunteer.org.gr and may publish the call on Volunteering opportunities. The profile page shows your organisation’s name, a short description and its calls, and a contact person’s name only if that person agrees. Each call names your organisation, says what volunteers will do, where (or “online”) and when, and gives the apply-by date. We take it down after that date. There is no account to create, and nothing is published until we have checked the call with you.
Is there an app?
Yes. The free EVEC Volunteer Academy app is on Google Play for Android phones. It has the Academy’s lessons and tasks, messages with our team and the notifications you choose, in English and Greek. On an iPhone or a computer, use the Academy in your web browser, on evec.org.gr.
The app is for anyone aged 15 or over. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian registers you first, on the Academy’s page for parents.
